Thanks to a $1.5 million grant from the Department of Energy, Murray State University is collaborating with Paducah Tilghman High School and the Innovation Hub to allow students to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world environmental projects at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion site.
Paducah Tilghman students and faculty recently visited the Department of Energy Paducah site. The students will be providing presentations to the community in the spring.
The grant and the project goal is to develop information that the DOE's Portsmouth/Paducah Project Office, its contractors and the public can use in decision-making for the environmental cleanup, beneficial reuse and public outreach at the Paducah site.
The project will utilize the Paducah site as a learning opportunity to promote careers in STEM disciplines to local high school students.
