Brookport Bridge closed due to freezing rain

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports that they closed the Brookport Bridge at 7 pm Saturday evening due to the threat of freezing rain overnight.

The bridge has a metal grated deck that cools down quickly when temperatures drop and allows ice to form on the steel.

KYTC will announce when the bridge will reopen to traffic.

Meanwhile, snow trucks will go on duty early Sunday morning to deal with the first rounds of freezing rain, then possible snow later in the day.
