Members of the Paducah Police Department Bomb Squad recently participated in a joint training exercise with the U.S. Coast Guard.

The exercise was to help prepare them for emergencies on the Ohio River.

The drills were attended by a number of first responders from the region and focused on scenarios that were based on real-world events.

Paducah's bomb squad is responsible for responding to any explosive-related incidents in the 13 westernmost counties in Kentucky. It's one of only five public safety bomb squads in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
