One dead in Pope County crash

One person died in a single-vehicle crash Friday night in Pope County. 

Pope County Sheriff's deputies arrived at Renshaw Road just off IL 145 to find the vehicle off the roadway in the early morning hours. The vehicle had struck a utility pole and went down an embankment.

The sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene by the Pope County Coroner’s Office. Their identity was not released pending family notification.
