A bridge near downtown Cadiz was briefly closed to traffic on Sunday when a man who was magnet fishing found his second grenade this month.

Cadiz police reported that South Road between US 68 and Main Street was closed and a bomb squad from Fort Campbell was called in to deal with the object, believed to be a 40-millimeter grenade used in grenade launchers.

At first the bomb squad intended do destroy the grenade on the scene, but they decided that it was stable enough to be transported to Fort Campbell for disposal.

On December 4th, the same man found the same type of grenade under the South Road bridge. It was destroyed in place by Fort Campbell personnel using an explosive charge.

There was no need to reroute downtown Cadiz traffic on Sunday, because the bridge was in an area free of businesses and residences.
