Gilbertsville man dies in semi accident on I-24 in McCracken County

A Gilbertsville man is dead after Wednesday morning's collision with a semi on Interstate 24 near mile marker 11. 

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said that just before 5 am, 64 year old Eric Jackson was driving an SUV when his vehicle collided with the front of a semi operated by 39 year old Anne Calderon of Grass Lake, Michigan.

The contact caused Jackson's vehicle to overturn multiple times. Jackson was pronounced deceased at the scene by McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton.

Both westbound lanes of the interstate were closed for about four hours during the investigation. Up to three other accidents occurred in the congestion on I-24, and several intersections in the city of Paducah became jammed with semis and other traffic trying to rejoin the interstate after exiting in Reidland.
