Mayfield Police posted this week that three Graves County men have been charged with a pair of burglaries that occurred in August.

The Mayfield Police Department responded to a burglary alarm early on August 13 at a gas station on US-45 North. Officers arrived to find broken glass and merchandise scattered throughout the store.  Surveillance video showed two individuals involved in the burglary.

Less than a week later, in the early morning hours of August 17, MPD officers responded to a burglary alarm at a business on Paris Road.  The front door of the business had been shattered and officers observed damaged display cases and merchandise scattered throughout the store.

Over the course of the investigation, police said they identified the perpetrators of the burglaries as 18-year-old Michael Shelburne of Wingo, 19-year-old Alexander Long and 20-year-old James Long, both of Mayfield.

Mayfield police posted on Wednesday that as a result of the investigation, Michael Shelburne and Alexander Long confessed to the burglaries of the stores on Paris Road and US-45 North, and James Long confessed to the burglary of the store on Paris Road.

Alexander Long additionally confessed to the burglary of a third store located on US-45 South in Wingo. The burglary in Wingo was being investigated by the Graves County Sheriff's Office.

All three men were charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
