North Carolina fugitive extradited to Lyon County, in country illegally

A North Carolina fugitive extradited to Lyon County to face escape and drug charges has been found to be in the country illegally.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office brought 35-year-old Moina Massalay of North Carolina back to Kentucky from South Charleston, West Virginia. Massalay is accused of failure to appear in Lyon Circuit Court to face charges of giving an officer false identifying information, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, along with escape.

Using biometrics, Massalay was determined to be in the country illegally and is subject to removal from the U.S. He was additionally served with a warrant for arrest of an alien, and the Department of Homeland Security placed a hold on Massalay.

Massalay was booked into the Crittenden County Detention Center.
