New mural unveiled in Wickliffe

Downtown Wickliffe is the site of a new mural that welcomes tourists and celebrates the city's river heritage.

The artwork depicts a barge and tugboat at sunset, along with the pilot wheel logo of the Mississippi River Parkway Commission, who collaborated with the Wickliffe City Council and Jackson Purchase Energy Cooperative to create the mural.

The mural, painted by artist Shanden Simmons, was dedicated at a ceremony on Monday.

The project was also supported by Kentucky's Great River Road organization, who promote dining, lodging, shopping and local attractions in Ballard, Carlisle, Hickman and Fulton counties.
