A new camp offered to incoming freshman at Marshall County High School recently gave eight students an opportunity to explore potential careers.
New Beginnings, organized by Calvert City and Marshall County High School's Family Resource Youth Service Center, gives students an opportunity to get a leg up before school starts.
Students learned where classes are located, were introduced to teachers and school leaders, and explored local businesses to learn about career opportunities.
A survey indicated that 100 percent of participants felt they have a trusted adult at school before they event start. Additionally, 80 percent said they were less anxious about beginning high school.
Participating businesses were selected to align with Marshall County High School's Career Pathways, including agriculture, business, carpentry, electrical, family consumer science, health science, IT, law and public safety, media arts, and welding.
