Murray woman charged with stealing water

A Murray woman was charged Thursday with stealing water.

Calloway County deputies said Murray Municipal Utilities had turned off 45-year-old Crystal L. Kirksey's water in September of 2022 for nonpayment.

It was reportedly later discovered the lock had been removed from the meter, and the utility company said they found the meter box had been tampered with so it would distribute water to the home.

Kirksey was charged with theft of services and theft by unlawful taking.

She was taken to the Calloway County Jail.
