The National Weather Service in Paducah is still watching for the arrival of the coldest Arctic blast of the year this weekend.
A strong cold front will move through today, evidenced by winds turning to the north and gusting to 20 miles per hour.
Light snow showers or flurries late tonight could produce a dusting up to half an inch of snow, with the higher
totals over western Kentucky. Widespread travel impacts are not expected, but there could be isolated slippery spots on the roads.
Bitterly cold temperatures and wind chill values are still expected Sunday through Tuesday.
Sunday's high will struggle to the mid 20s, but continuing north winds to 20 mph will drive the wind chill into the teens.
Monday morning will be bitterly cold, with a low temperature of 8 and wind chills near zero. Martin Luther King Monday will reach the 20s, and winds will become lighter.
Tuesday morning will see another low in the teens, and a high Tuesday of 25.
After another Wednesday morning low around 12, Wednesday will begin to recover from the deep freeze with a high of 35.
