A Murray man was sentenced to prison last week on drug trafficking charges in Calloway County.
Calloway County Sheriff Nicky Knight said that 38-year-old Derell Ward of Murray will serve seven years in prison after being convicted of four counts of trafficking in cocaine and cocaine possession.
Ward was indicted in March of 2022 after a lengthy investigation conducted by the Calloway County Sheriff's Office.
In a release, Sheriff Knight credited cooperation with multiple agencies for helping to combat the influx of drugs into Calloway County. He praised deputies and detectives for the hard work not often seen by the public.
Knight added that the ability of his office to have a full-time narcotics detective who doubles as a DEA Task Force member is key to working across multiple jurisdictions to fight drug trafficking.
