A lenghty investigation led to the arrest of a Murray man Wednesday morning on drug trafficking charges.

The Calloway County Sheriff's Office said  54-year-old Monty L. Thompson of Calloway County to be the source of supply for large amounts of methamphetamine and were then able to make a controlled purchase of methamphetamine from Thompson seizing over 14 grams.

Through this investigation, multiple search warrants were executed at an address on Offshore Dive, which led to the seizure of approximately a half-pound of methamphetamine, a large illegal marijuana grow operation consisting of approximately 30 plants, a large quantity of marijuana, LSD, $6,674.00 in cash believed to be proceeds of drug trafficking, digital weight scales, baggies, and numerous other drug-related items.

Records indicate that Thompson has an extensive and violent criminal history involving numerous convictions for trafficking and manufacturing methamphetamine dating back to 1999.

Thompson was arrested and lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center.
