Calloway County Fiscal Court 911 and Murray-Calloway County Hospital recently joined in partnership to install mobile data terminals in their ambulances.
The terminals allow constant real time communication between the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department, Murray Police and hospital emergency services.
This new technology displays an exact location of ambulances at all times. Not only is this beneficial to multiple agencies participating in emergency calls, but also serves as a safety feature when ambulances travel outside of Calloway County.
The terminals consist of tablets installed in the cab of each ambulance, using MiFi networking and GPS antennas to transmit information.
An emergency alert button is included in the mobile data terminal. First responders on a call can quickly push the emergency button to notify other emergency responders that additional help is needed.
Calloway County Fiscal Court 911 incurred the $8,000.00 costs for the software, and Murray-Calloway County Hospital Emergency Services purchased the hardware for each ambulance, totaling $1,100.00 per unit.
