More than 5100 receive degrees at Murray State, SIU and SEMO

Caps and gowns were on parade across our region during spring graduation ceremonies at Murray State, SIU and SEMO on Saturday.

A total of  1,654 applicants received their degrees from Murray State University during commencement celebrations at the CFSB Center on Saturday.

Graduates from 38 states and 16 countries received doctoral, specialist, master’s, baccalaureate and associate degrees.

At Southern Illiois University, 1,971 candidates for degrees and certificates were awarded. Thirteen different countries were represented among the graduates.

At Southeast Missouri State University, another 1,565 degrees were bestowed, including an honorary degree of fine arts to SEMO alumnus Cedric Antonio Kyles, better known as Cedric the Entertainer. He was also the commencement speaker.
