Senator Rand Paul announced more help for the city of Marion on Tuesday.
Paul took a swing through western Kentucky, with stops in Henderson, Morganfield, Dawson Springs, and Marion.
During the stop in Marion, Senator Paul was joined by representatives of the Kentucky Dream Center and Waterstep.
Christina Garrott, Director of Kentucky Dream Center, said they have partnered with Louisville-based Waterstep on relief efforts in the past. Waterstep specializes in water purification and production.
"They service nations around the world, but also right here in the United States, as well, with what they do with water. They're being gracious enough to come and offer their technology and equipment to the city of Marion.”
Waterstep, working with Kentucky Rural Water Association, will be able to provide critical care facilities with 10,000 gallons of water a day, by week's end.
Garrott added, “We have showers and laundry trailers that we've been using in the tornado zone that we're going to bring up here so that people can wash their clothes and have a great hot shower without using their own water at home so they can conserve what they have at home.”
The city of Marion has been in the grips of a water crisis since a levee breach at Lake George, the city's primary water source, back in April.
