An investigation that began in September has culminated in the arrest of an alleged drug trafficker in Murray.
Through their investigation, the Calloway County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit identified 31-year-old Andrew Heckathorn of Murray as an alleged distributor of several types of illegal drugs. Heckathorn was reportedly caught in the act of distributing meth thanks to the work of the Calloway and Marshall County Sheriff's Offices, DEA, and Kentucky State Police. A traffic stop is said to have uncovered nearly half a pound of meth plus prescription pills in Heckathorn's vehicle.
A subsequent search of Heckathorn's home reportedly found more meth plus fentanyl, anabolic steroids, and other drugs listed as schedule II and III by the DEA. Police also allegedly found trafficking paraphernalia, guns-one of which they said was stolen-and a meth lab that had recently been in operation.
Heckathorn was arrested and charged with trafficking in meth and steroids, manufacturing meth, possession of fentanyl and other drugs, receiving stolen property, and controlled substance endangerment to a child. He was taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
