Metropolis man arrested for trying to steal beer, found with meth

A Metropolis man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly trying to steal beer.

Metropolis Police said that 52-year-old Michael D. Anderson was at Big John's after having been trespassed from the store on a previous occasion. Employees called police when they allegedly caught him trying to steal beer from the store. Police caught up to Anderson near 5th and Main Streets in Metropolis where a search reportedly uncovered a baggie of methamphetamine. 

Anderson was arrested and charged with possession of meth and criminal trespass to property.
