The Bon Secours Mercy Health hospital system announced on Tuesday plans for a $98 million renovation to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
Construction is set to commence this month, with an estimated completion date in 2026.
The project will include all new windows, and new heating and cooling systems.
The second and seventh floors of the hospital's patient tower will undergo a complete overhaul aimed at creating a more efficient and modern space.
A new 10,500-square-foot utility plant will house all-new equipment to increase energy efficiency and reliability.
Bon Secours Mercy Health, based in Cincinnati, serves communities across seven states with 48 hospitals.
In 2021 the company collected energy and utility data from its older facilities. The data showed that Paducah had one of the highest energy costs per square foot of any hospital in the network.
The renovations are in addition to the construction already in progress of a $12.5 million cancer center at the Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital site.
