McCracken man gets 8 years in prison for strangulation, assault

A McCracken County man was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of strangulation, assault and being a persistent felony offender.

Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman said 26-year-old Hunter Diel admitted that he strangled a female victim in April 2025. According to court documents, Diel slapped the victim and then strangled her with his hands.

A judge sentenced Diel to eight years in prison. He is also to have no contact with the victim, complete a substance abuse treatment program, and undergo a mental health assessment.
