What looked to be a traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase and a drug trafficking arrest in McCracken County.
On Wednesday, McCracken County Sheriff’s detectives attempted a traffic stop on Benton Road, but the vehicle reportedly failed to yield. During the pursuit, occupants allegedly discarded a bag containing approximately one pound of suspected methamphetamine.
The abandoned vehicle was later found. It was registered to 30-year-old Matthew Ingram.
Detectives conducted a covert narcotics operation in which Ingram reportedly sold suspected meth to a cooperating witness. During the transaction, Ingram allegedly handled an AK-47 rifle in the presence of the witness.
On Friday, detectives searched Ingram’s home on Holmes Drive. They reportedly seized additional quantities of crystal meth, a digital scale, three rifles, a handgun and ammunition.
Ingram was charged with trafficking in meth and possession of marijuana. Ingram was out on bond in Marshall County on separate felony charges.
Detectives are working to identify an additional individual connected to the case.
Anyone with information about the man seen in security footage is asked to call the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office at 270-444-4719.
