McCracken man accused of kidnapping, sexual abuse of foster child

A McCracken County man was arrested on Monday for kidnapping and sexual abuse of a juvenile whom he had previously been the foster parent of, according to police.

State Police said they arrested 32-year-old Robert Thomas on Monday, following a sexual abuse investigation beginning in February of this year.

Police said they were notified that Thomas was suspected of child sexual abuse and upon further investigation, it was determined he had previously been the foster parent of the juvenile. They said his guardianship was later revoked, at which time he hid the child from law enforcement and social workers. According to authorities, Thomas sexually abused the victim during this time.

Thomas was arrested at the McCracken County Courthouse and is charged with kidnapping of a minor and sexual abuse, both of which are felony charges.
