McCracken County jailer charged with sexual contact with inmate

A McCracken County jailer faces misconduct and sexual abuse charges in connection with a female inmate.

According to McCracken County Sheriff Ryan Norman, allegations that a McCracken County deputy jailer was having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate were reported on Wednesday evening.

Detectives interviewed inmates and the accused deputy jailer.

Sheriff Norman said the investigation showed that the deputy jailer was having inappropriate sexual contact with a female inmate and gave her items he was not allowed to give her.

Tyler Hamlet, 27 of Eddyville, Kentucky, was arrested and charged with sexual abuse, official misconduct and promoting contraband.

Hamlet was booked into the Marshall County Jail.
