Ballard fiscal court requests resignation of county jailer

The Ballard County Fiscal Court has unanimously voted to request the resignation of Ballard County Jailer Eric Coppess.

The decision comes as a result of a series of incidents that raised concerns regarding safety and security of the Ballard County Detention Center.

According to the Fiscal Court, the lack of adequate response from the detention center's administration has eroded confidence in Coppess' ability to effectively manage both staff and inmates.

The Fiscal Court believes, in light of these concerns, that this action is necessary to protect the best interests of the community.

They said this is also needed to restore confidence in the county's detention operations.
