An inmate at the Ballard County Jail has been charged with attempted escape and assault.

Kentucky State Police report they received information just before 11:00 pm on July 11th regarding an incident at the Ballard County Jail, and were requested to investigate it.

Their preliminary investigation shows that an inmate, 32-year-old Jeremy Lynn of Lovelaceville, entered the control room of the jail, assaulted a corrections employee, and attempted to unlock doors.

They say Lynn then assaulted a second corrections employee before he was taken back into custody.

Lynn was charged with attempted escape and two counts of assault by an inmate on a correctional employee, and remains lodged at the Ballard County Jail.

The assaulted correctional employees reportedly did not require medical attention.
