The principal of McCracken County High School announced his resignation on Wednesday.

In a social media post, Matthew Houser said he would be stepping down from that role. Houser discussed the careful consideration it took to come to the decision. He said that "recent health concerns and a desire to devote more time to my family have led me to make this difficult choice." Houser added, "I believe stepping away is necessary for me to focus on managing my health and to provide the support and care my loved ones deserve."

Houser expressed gratitude to the parents, teachers, and staff of McCracken County High School for their commitment to him and the students. He said, "I am confident that McCracken County High School will continue to thrive under the capable leadership of our strong administrative team." Houser assured the current senior class that planning is underway for all their end-of-the-year activities.

Houser offered thanks for understanding and asked for prayers as he and his family move forward.
