Suspect in custody after officer-involved shooting in Murray

An investigation into a police-involved shooting is underway in Murray.

The Murray Police Department said officers responded at 11:45 pm Monday night to Brooklyn Drive in regards to an out-of-control subject who was armed with a knife. Officers said they learned the suspect was alone inside an apartment

Police said before they could make contact with suspect, he exited the apartment and allegedly charged at officers while armed with the knife. An officer discharged his weapon, striking the suspect.  

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Murray-Calloway County Hospital, where he received treatment for injuries.  

Kentucky State Police were requested by Murray Police to conduct an independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting.  

Murray Police Department Detectives are also conducting a separate criminal investigation into the suspect’s actions.
