The McCracken County Fiscal Court voted on Monday to sell property in Commerce Park owned by the county, city and the Greater Paducah Economic Development.

The 28,000-square-foot building previously used by TeleTech will be sold to NEWGEN Ventures for $3 million.

Commissioners heard the latest progress on convention center roof repairs. Bill Bartleman said seven contractors came to tour the convention center on Monday. He said contractors originally had until Aug. 23 to submit bids but have extended that date to Aug. 30. He said once bids are in, construction could be done by mid-September.

The county voted to approve a contract with Axon for $40,000 for 15 new Tasers for McCracken County Sheriff's deputies. They also voted to surplus 34 older units. Sherriff Ryan Norman said a third-party company purchases the old Tasers, refurbishes them and gives them to private companies or the military.

Commissioners also approved $50,000 to hire grant writers. McCracken County is eligible for House Bill 9 grants. The federal government will match the amount received from any of those grants awarded.
