McCracken County Clerk's Office investigating misappropriation of funds

An investigation is underway in the McCracken County Clerk's Office after uncovering alleged misappropriation of funds by a former employee.

Clerk Jamie Huskey said on Tuesday that the discovery was made on September 5th as current staff and supervisors utilizing the internal controls of the office noticed the discrepancy. The matter was reviewed internally first, then turned over to the Attorney General's Office. The McCracken County Clerk's Office, the McCracken County Attorney, and the Commonwealth Attorney are assisting the Attorney General's Department of Criminal Investigations in the probe. 

Huskey said in a statement that due to the nature of the investigation, they would not be releasing further information at this time. She said detailed information would be forthcoming after the investigation.
