Mayfield police received a call last Thursday night to reports of a man outside a West Water Street residence firing a gun.

Officers requested that 37-year-old Charles Holloway come outside.  Holloway complied and the home was cleared.

Evidence was located in the front yard where a witness had reported the gun being fired.

A search warrant was obtained to attempt to locate the gun.

During the search of the residence, officers found a handgun matching the caliber from the evidence found in the yard, and also a long rifle.

After checking the serial numbers on the firearms, the handgun was reported stolen out of McCracken County.

Holloway was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, wanton endangerment, receiving stolen property, tampering with physical evidence, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.

He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail.
