A Mayfield man was arrested Thursday after attempting to leave the scene of an accident involving a police cruiser.
Mayfield police said 58-year-old Donald Chastain collided with the rear of a Mayfield police cruiser in the parking lot of Walmart, which was parked and occupied by an officer. Chastain then fled from the parking lot, and was stopped on Paris Road.
Police said Chastain was found to not have an active driver's license; he was unable to provide proof of insurance, and was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.
Chastain was placed under arrest and transported to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center.
His charges included leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, and possession of a controlled substance.
