Mayfield man arrested, stolen vehicle recovered in Graves County

A Mayfield man was arrested after a vehicle was stolen, then recovered in Graves County on Thursday.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office said the 2012 Toyota Corolla was reported stolen in the early morning hours from a location KY 940.

That afternoon, deputies located the stolen vehicle parked off of old Hwy 121 South. Unknown to the deputy, the suspect who stole the vehicle saw the deputy, fled on foot and was picked up by someone driving a white SUV.

During the investigation the suspect was identified as 26-year-old Hunter O. Mitchum.

Later Thursday evening, deputies and Mayfield police located the SUV that the suspect was believed to have been a passenger in near the 10th and West Walnut in Mayfield. Mitchum was located and arrested.

Mitchum was charged with receiving stolen property and transported to an out-of-county detention center.
