Mayfield gun charges for two men from Mexico, Guatemala

A man from Guatemala and another from Mexico are facing a gun charge in western Kentucky in connection with a death investigation.

According to the federal criminal complaint, 22-year-old Rodrigo Waldemar Caal-Caal, from Guatemala, and 26-year-old Rodolfo Ruiz-Hernandez, of Mexico, were charged with possessing a firearm while knowing they were illegally and unlawfully in the United States.

Investigators said Caal-Caal and Ruiz-Hernandez admitted to taking the gun from the scene of a death investigation in Mayfield on April 6.

Both are separately charged in state court with additional offenses.

The case is being investigated by the Paducah office of Alchohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Paducah Office of Homeland Security Investigations and the Mayfield Police Department.

Both men are in custody and will make their initial court appearances at a later date.
