A Graves County first responder was injured in a crash Sunday while responding to a fire.

Mayfield Police said that the crash happened at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday. Mayfield Graves Fire-Rescue Squad Chief David Warner of Hickory was said to be traveling south on the Dick Castleman Bypass, headed toward Broadway, en route to a brush fire. Warner was driving a fire truck with lights and sirens activated as he entered the East Broadway intersection. The fire truck with Warner aboard collided with a pickup truck driven by 84-year-old Jerry Gough of Mayfield.

After being treated at the scene, Warner was flown to a Nashville hospital for further treatment.

Mayfield Police and the Graves County Sheriff’s Office worked together to clear the crash.
