Marshall County has seen a record-breaking economic impact on the county through tourism, according to officials.
Judge-executive Kevin Spraggs says the county benefited from more than $85 million in tourism income in 2022. That was good for the creation of 700 jobs and contributed more than $6 million in tax revenue to local and state government.
Marshall County benefits from the attraction of tourists to two state resort parks and one of the nation's largest outdoor recreational areas in Land Between the Lakes.
Marshall County's announcement follows similar word from the state. On Tuesday, Kentucky revealed numbers that 2022 was also the best year on record for state tourism, with $12.9 billion generated, breaking the previous mark of $11.8.
Kentucky tourism generated more than 91,000 jobs last year.
