Paducah landmark and cultural hub Maiden Alley Cinema says that it is facing significant financial challenges.
For over two decades, the theater has showcased independent films, documentaries, and classic cinema. It also hosts community events and live music.
However, over the years Maiden Alley has faced increasing financial strain from rising operational costs, major building repairs and fluctuating attendance.
Less than half of revenue comes from ticket sales and concessions. The rest of its funding must come from donors, grants and fundraising.
Management says that without an immediate infusion of support from the community, Maiden Alley risks closing its doors.
