The City of Marion will distribute water to city customers in September in an effort to help during restrictions.
The distribution will take place the week of September 8th through 13th at the wastewater treatment plant located on Pippi Hardin Drive. Distribution of 20-gallon jugs of water will take place daily that week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The water is for Marion residential households, and customers will need to have a copy of their water bill to collect the water. They said that paperless customers need to have their phones for verification.
Some may be picking up water for family members, and that is allowed. Officials said you need to have a copy of that individual’s bill, as well. Those living in apartments where water is included should seek a letter from the complex management.
An additional distribution will take place in October, as well.
The City of Marion reinstituted Stage 3 water restrictions -the most stringent level- back on August 11th. The continued lack of significant rain forced the City to raise the level, which will remain in place until further notice.
