The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is raising awareness about a continuing trend of overdoses in the county.
Lyon County Sheriff Brent White said EMS personnel, the coronor, and law enforcement personnel are continuously responding to overdose incidents across the county, with many ending tragically.
Fentanyl, counterfeit pills, and fentanyl-laced methamphetamine have taken the lives of several residents over the last two years, and White said this year is proving to continue the trend.
"Some might say it was a drug addict's choice to live that way, but unfortunately, it causes many more problems." White continued, "Grandparents forced to raise babies and great grandchildren. Children becoming dependent, abused, or neglected. Loved ones dealing with guilt and the pain of losing their family members just to name a few."
White encouraged the public to connect loved ones with drug rehabilitation programs such as the sheriff's office's own Badges for Hope.
The sheriff's office encouraged residents to share information about people selling or distributing drugs in the community by calling 270-388-2311.
