A Paducah man arrested earlier this week in Hopkinsville now faces kidnapping charges in Mayfield.
Mayfield Police said 33-year-old Kendrick Owens threatened a woman in the early morning hours Sunday leading her to driving him around Mayfield for hours.
Investigators said Owens took possession of a cellphone and handgun owned by the victim. While inside the victim's vehicle, Owens allegedy fired the handgun an estimated seven times striking the windshield, radio display, and a rear window.
Owens was also in possession of his own firearm. Owens later physically assaulted the victim causing bodily injury.
The victim managed to escape, and Owens fled the city
On Monday, while a warrant of arrest was being sought in Graves County, detectives learned that Owens had just been arrested by the Hopkinsville Police Department for two unrelated warrants issued in McCracken County in 2023.
Detectives drove to the Christian County Jail, where Owens was served warrants relating to the Sunday morning incident. Owens was charged with kidnapping, wanton endangerment, seven counts of discharge of a firearn, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, assault and other charges.
