Western Kentucky and southern Illinois will enjoy our peak in fall foliage over the next two weeks, according to the latest maps for leaf watchers.

SmokyMountains.com posts their annual fall foliage prediction map with the nationwide outlook for seeing the fall colors.

According to the website, "leaf peeping," as they call it in the Northeast, peaked in New England during the first week of October.

They say the peak viewing for the Smokies has been happening this week, and will be over in the higher altitudes by next week.

However, many western Kentucky and southern Illinois trees are just now coming into their prime.  Next week is considered to be near peak, and they say the peak week for leaf watching will happen here during the first week of November.

Northwest Tennessee peaks around Nov. 11, and the show will be over for all but the Gulf Coast by Nov. 18.
