The wind will stay strong, but expected rainfall totals for the week are decreasing in the latest forecast models.
Gradient winds will yield wind gusts today between 25 to 35 mph, with isolated gusts exceeding 35 mph. Very dry grass and leaves combined with low humidities will elevate the fire danger today.
Temperatures will continue to remain above normal through Friday with daily highs ranging from the upper 70s to mid 80s.
Rain chances begin to arrive Tuesday night into Wednesday, with a 50 to 60% chance confined to the I-64 corridor in Illinois. Many locations south of I-64 may end up not seeing any rain.
The best chance of more widespread showers and thunderstorms will be Thursday afternoon into Friday morning, then again on Saturday afternoon into Saturday night. Total rainfall between 1 to 2 inches is now forecast. Parts of the Kentucky Pennyrile may struggle to see 1 inch.
Easter Sunday looks to be on the cool side, with a chance of showers, otherwise a partly sunny 60, and a low of 38 on Sunday night.
