Kentucky State Police investigating apparent murder in Marshall County

An apparent murder in Marshall County is being investigated after Kentucky State Police located a deceased man with a gunshot wound.

On Thursday night, KSP Post 1 received a call from the U.S. Forestry Service about an abandoned vehicle in Land Between the Lakes Recreation Area.

Troopers were requested to conduct a welfare check on a man known to regularly operate the vehicle, 44-year-old Jesse Moore of Benton.

Troopers went to a residence in the Possum Trot area to attempt to make contact with Moore. When they arrived at the home, they located a deceased male with a gunshot wound.

An autopsy was conducted on Saturday and the identity of the victim was confirmed to be Moore. Foul play is suspected and Post 1 detectives are investigating.
