Several people were arrested on Monday as a result of a methamphetamine trafficking investigation in Graves County.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office had identified 43-year-old Murray J. Akers III as selling crystal meth in and around the Pryorsburg and Wingo areas. Akers was also wanted on numerous outstanding warrants, including one for parole violation

Friday afternoon, detectives gathered in Pryorsburg in an attempt to locate Akers.

Akers was seen as a passenger in a vehicle, but Akers reportedly jumped from the vehicle and ran into a cornfield. A two-hour search of Finks Road, KY 1748, and Snow Lane included the use of a drone. Akers was found hiding in a shed behind a residence on Snow Lane.

Akers was arrested on several outstanding warrants and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.

The vehicle that Akers had jumped from was stopped by sheriff's deputies. Deputies allegedly found meth in the vehicle and both occupants, 25-year-old Shai O. Jenkins and 20-year-old Caleah M. Walsh were also arrested and charged with possession.
