A McCracken County jury has convicted a man on charges stemming from a traffic stop turned trafficking arrest from 2021.

The jury found 39-year-old Timothy McNeal guilty on charges of firearm-enhanced trafficking in fentanyl, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest related to the November 2021 traffic stop. McNeal was sentenced to 30 years in prison. He will be eligible for parole in 20 years.

McCracken County Sheriff's deputies stopped McNeal's vehicle along Caldwell Street on November 5th, 2021, and the driver began fighting with them while attempting to get away. Deputies had to use a taser to arrest McNeal.

While searching his belongings, deputies reportedly found fentanyl and a loaded handgun. In addition, he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest.

Assistant Commonwealth Attorney James Mills prosecuted the case. McNeal has five previous felony convictions and a federal felony conviction on his record, as well.
