Graves County's director of emergency management was named Director of the Year at an event in Louisville last week.

The Kentucky Emergency Management Association held its Kentucky Emergency Services Conference at the Louisville Airport Crowne Plaza Hotel and Convention Center on September 8. 

During the event, they presented awards recognizing nine current officials from across the state.

Tracy Warner, Director of Emergency Management in Graves County, was named Director of the Year. Warner is the first full time emergency management director in Graves County. The position was formerly part time only.

In addition to her duties as emergency management director, Warner is a trained paramedic and member of the rescue squad.

Kentucky Emergency Management Association President Jon Allen said recipients were selected from peer nominations.

He said, "These individuals stood out for their continuous contributions to make Kentucky a safer place."

Other award winners include Jack Whitfield Jr of Hopkins County, who was recognized as Judge Executive of the Year; Dustin Heiser of Madison County recieved the Catalyst award; William Turner in Campbell County was presented the President's award; Todd Schulkers of Kenton County was named Deputy Director of the Year; Steve Hensley of Kenton County was given the Hall of Fame award; and University of Louisville Emergency Management was recognized as the Most Improved Program.
