On Friday, Governor Andy Beshear awarded 1,3 million dollars to Graves County for five infrastructure project improvements.

The funding is from the Better Kentucky Plans $250 million Cleaner Water Program to deliver clean drinking water and improve sewer and water systems.

Mayfield Electric and Water received $394,478 to rehabilitate its aging water treatment plant. At the same time, Graves County Water District received $600,000 to rehabilitate two water storage tanks and reroute wastewater from the Fancy Farm community to the MEWS wastewater treatment facility in Mayfield.

"The funding announced today for the improvement of the water infrastructure will help improve many lives in Graves County," said Representative Richard Heath.

The remaining funds went to the City of Wingo to rehabilitate its lagoon levee and the Symsonia Water District to expand water lines along Kentucky Route 131.
