As they had predicted, the most snow fell in the Missouri Ozarks, with some locations receiving from 9 to 11 inches.
In western Kentucky, the highest total was 7 inches in Carlisle County, and toward the Ballard and Hickman County lines.
Other westernmost Kentucky counties had a consistent range of 4 to 5 inches to the lakes, with a few 6-inch reports in McCracken County. Calloway County got 3.5 inches. Three-inch totals were more common east of the lakes.
In southern Illinois, a pocket in Pope County reached 7 inches. Vienna measured 6 inches; otherwise more of the 4 to 5 inch totals were reported as far north as Marion and Carbondale, where the snow then tapered off quickly to the north.
Snow measurement was a bit more difficult for local residents this time because the very dry, powdery snow was prone to drifting in even lighter winds.
An expanded map of the accumulation totals is found at the National Weather Service Facebook page .
