Fulton County was among twelve counties selected at random by Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman for a primary election inquiry.
General Coleman called the inquiries a way to protect the integrity of the election process in Kentucky. State law requires the inquiries, and the counties are selected at random. In those twelve counties, the AG’s Department of Criminal Investigations will look into the processes and whether any irregularities may have occurred.
In addition to Fulton County, Union, Daviess, Adair, Scott, Oldham, Franklin, Carroll, Laurel, Rowan, Floyd, and Pike Counties were drawn.
Coleman said, "From Pike to Fulton, our Office is committed to ensuring Kentucky's elections are free, fair, and secure. Along with our election officials and law enforcement partners, we are committed to making sure every vote is counted fairly."
The Department of Criminal Investigations and the AG’s Special Prosecutions Unit will take their findings to the Grand Jury in each county once the investigations are complete.
The Attorney General’s Office operates Kentucky’s Election Fraud Hotline. That hotline received 155 messages on Primary Election Day, bringing the total for the year to nearly 600.
