Calloway County Jail inmate convicted of assaulting deputy jailer

A Calloway County Jail inmate has been convicted in connection with the May, 2025 assault of a deputy jailer.

According to a news release from the Calloway County Jail after an investigation and subsequent prosecution, Chase Byerly was convicted in Calloway Circuit Court of inmate assault on a correctional employee. He was also charged as a persistent felony offender.

As a result of the conviction, Byerly was sentenced to three years of incarceration. The charges for which he was originally incarcerated were later dismissed.
